Volunteers

Interested in becoming a volunteer on our activities? We need volunteers to help support us delivering activities to disabled individuals and groups as well as behind the scenes with the administration aspects of the organisation.

Activity Volunteers

For groups with more complex needs it is beneficial to have an extra pair of hands for assisting people on the activity, paddling canoes and moving equipment before and after. We offer training just around Easter each year for both our staff team and volunteers. This training involves looking at basic safety principles of climbing and canoeing as well as introducing the adaptive equipment we use to make the activity fully inclusive.

To be an activity volunteer you need to attend the training and then will be added to a volunteer mailing list. You will then receive dates and activities that we need volunteers for. Activity volunteers must be over 18 years old. Interested? Request a volunteer application form by emailing us at info@able2adventure.co.uk.

Organisational Volunteers

We are a small community interest company and are constantly looking for support with our general administration. In particularly anyone who can assist us with our accounts, data basing, website development, grant applications and marketing.

What does being an Activity Volunteer involve?

  • Attending a training to understand your role and be introduced to some of the adaptive equipment
  • Supporting the lead instructor with preparing the activity equipment
  • Helping individuals with the fitting of their safety equipment
  • Assisting on the activity such as positive encouragment whilst climbing or being an extra set of arms to help paddle a canoe raft
  • Supporting the lead instructor with the pack down

What is the level of commitment?

There is no set level of commitment. We are a small organisation and as such the activity pattern is different every week. Every now and then we may notice a group that would be benefit from the support of a volunteer. When this happens we will contact all registered volunteers and see who is interested in the session.
